You saw the ads and thought ING sounded pretty cool but who is ING and do they offer the financial services products you need? Here’s the dish on ING.

Holland-based ING is one of the giants of international finance. Founded in 1991 after the merger of Nationale-Nederlanden and NMB Postbank Groep, the Internationale Nederlanden Groep  was ranked the tenth largest company in the world in the 2007 Forbes Global 2000. The banking, insurance and asset management service operates in more than 50 countries with 60 million private and business clients. It employs more than 120,000 people and also owns ING Direct. ING Direct operates in Australia, as well as numerous other countries, with more than 15 million customers on its books. Several acquisitions and mergers throughout the 1990s and the first years of this millennium have cemented its position.

ING Australia Limited is a leading fund managers’ life insurer and superannuation provider, with more than $30 billion in assets under management. It is a joint venture between the ING Group and ANZ, with the former owning 51 per cent and the latter, one of the region's largest banks, owning 49 per cent.

ING products and services

Investment specialists, ING Australia uses ING Investment Management Limited (INGIM), with assets in Australian and global shares as well as property, fixed interest and cash, to manage fund options. ING Australia uses OptiMix for its multi-manager investment funds. As for other services, ING Australia offers retirement fund advice, as well as insurance and superannuation, financial advice and fund performance advice for individuals and corporate customers. The head office of ING Australia is located in Sydney, while regional offices are found in Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth.
